Outline
Health care in European regions is faced with the consequences of increased demand for nursing and health care personnel. This is mainly due to the ageing of the population and the resulting increased need for more attention for health care workers. In parallel, these workers need to have a better knowledge of contemporary health care methods. Shortcomings in knowledge cause dissatisfaction among health care staff but also among patients and their relatives. Participation in training courses for nurses or health care workers is not always feasible because of heavy work schedules and long distances that increase the cost.
The aim of the “CoCareDigital” project is to transfer, adapt and develop a competence based e-learning training system containing self training modules on health care in general and the care of the elderly in particular. The system addresses the needs of nurses and health care workers for self-improvement, thus becoming more contemporary and in the process also gaining international acceptance.
The “CoCareDigital” vocational training system will reside in an electronic platform that is easily accessible to learners, offering them learning flexibility in terms of time and space. It will be available on the internet through the N@tschool e-learning environment and also on CDs and DVDs.
